LONGTIME ARTS ADVOCATE, EDGAR L. SMITH, JR., LIFE TRUSTEE OF CINCINNATI’S ARTSWAVE, LEADS AMERICANS FOR THE ARTS

Ohio continues to demonstrate its leadership in arts advocacy with the election of Edgar L. Smith, Jr. as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Americans for the Arts (AFTA). According to an article from AFTA, Smith has the vision and expertise to help lead the organization into the next phase of its efforts to make the arts available to all.

Smith has been a lifelong arts leader, and has served on the boards of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Smith is also a Life Trustee of ArtsWave, where he successfully served as Community Campaign Chair during its 2011, $11 million community arts campaign. Smith is currently a Board member of Interlochen Center for the Arts, Equity Arc, and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, and is a Life Associate Trustee of Marietta College.
