How to vote in Ohio

(in three easy steps)

1. Make sure you’re registered to vote

The voter registration deadline is October 7, 2024. You can register online, in-person or by mail. Your registration must be postmarked by October 7, 2024.

Early Voting (In person) October 8, 2024 to November 4, 2024

To vote in person absentee, you request, fill out, and return your ballot at designated early voting locations.

October 29, 2024: Deadline to request ballot (received by)
November, 4, 2024: Deadline to return ballot (postmarked by)

Voting by mail in Ohio is a two-step process.

Step 1: Request your ballot, and be sure to include your in-state ID number or proof of residence on your application.

Step 2: Complete and return your ballot ASAP.

  • Return in person to your county election office or county designated dropbox by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.
  • Return by mail no later than the day before Election Day. Your ballot must be received no later than four days after Election day to be counted. To make your postmark date, put the ballot into your home mailbox for collection at least one day prior to ensure it is picked up and processed. You can also drop the ballot off at the post office before the last posted collection time on the Monday before Election Day.

Voting at your college follows the same date requirements as any other voting.

November 5, 2024: Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
