Ohio arts organizations will receive $50 million thanks to lobbying work of CreativeOhio. CreativeOhio helped to secure $50 million in state grants for arts organizations impacted by COVID-19. Columbus Business First covers the story. The grants came as an amendment to House Bill 45, and will be administered by Ohio Department of Development. CreativeOhio Executive Director Angela Meleca says that this promise shows that Ohio legislators know that Ohio’s creative industry is key to economic development.
“We’re getting acknowledgment that our creative organization business is just like any other business in Ohio,” she said. “When we talk about the arts, we aren’t talking about my daughter in the school play. We’re talking about a $55 billion dollar economic engine.”
